“Borrowed time.”
A lady so full of life. The cancer in her lungs, brain, and bones did not slow her down one bit. Even in her last days from her room in hospice, she was still running an active fundraiser to raise money for cancer care, constantly thinking of others instead of herself.
She walked the delicate line in balancing hope for more time, with the understanding that she is dying, in a way that I have never seen before. Walking this fine line is incredibly difficult, and she did it with conviction and grace.
In one of our conversations she shared her fundraiser goals, and plans for events months away, and just when I was starting to get worried that she might have unrealistic understanding of her condition, she tells me:
“I know this is all borrowed time”.
What a beautiful concept, borrowed time.
She knew exactly what was happening with her body, and probably better than anyone else how much time she might have. But that does not mean she can’t do the most she can with the time she has left and hope this borrowed time continue as long as it can.
